Heyy yall !! The first month of 2022 is over, and now were in February...lets discuss one of the biggest skincare trends for 2022...FERMENTED BEAUTY ! Yes, fermented beauty and please do NOT be alarmed...it is amazing for your skin and overall health...just trust me !

Fermented Beauty

Fermentation: microorganisms like yeast are used to break down or alter the ingredients of natural compounds

Fermentation creates universally skin-friendly ingredients like probiotics and lactic acid. Lactic acid is one of the gentler AHAs and is safe for sensitive skin, while probiotics benefit skin’s overall health by creating a healthy microbiome.

The fermentation process transforms the natural substances in a moisturizer, serum or mask, enabling the skin to more readily accept and absorb these ingredients. Yes...fermented beauty is big on the beauty scene yall. Don't be turned off by fermentation, it is amazing for your skin. It's basically kombucha, but for your skin! Popularized by Korean and Japanese beauty, these naturally occurring bacteria prolong the shelf life of formulas, and for the amazing capacity to boost effectiveness. I recently started to incorporate fermented beauty into my routine over the last couple of years, and my skin absolutely loves it ! My current obsessions are from the brand 107 Beauty and Neogen ! My skin is obsessed with EVERYTHING and IMMEDIATELY feels plump, hydrated and has the most beautiful glow aka glazed donut skin lol.

Benefits of fermented skincare

  • Boosts ingredient penetration

  • Strengthens and repairs the skin barrier

  • Helps retain moisture

  • Improved skin texture

  • Balances the skins pH

I've honestly just started getting used to eating and drinking probiotics (like kombucha and kimchi) when I heard that topical probiotic ingredients became a thing. Using fermented and other probiotic ingredients in skincare is a fast-growing trend, but it's been around FOREVER. Probiotics has been popular in indigenous cultures for ages. Fermented skincare is a growing trend due to a desire to boost skin in a gentler way and using less chemicals or devices that can possibly cause more harm to the skin. Fermented skincare is perfect for any skin type, even those with sensitive skin.

It's so much easier now to find plenty of fermented skincare products. A lot of brands are noticing the "need" for fermented beauty in the market, and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Cleansers, exfoliators, toners, sprays, serums and brightening masks are all now being made with fermented ingredients. A few of those ingredients found in these cutting-edge products include sea kelp, black soy, red ginseng, fermented vinegar, fermented olive leaf extract and ginseng.

Final Thoughts

THE SKINCARE BARBIE APPROVES !!!!

I am obsessed with fermented skincare and will continue to use it and try out new products and brands. Be sure to spot test and read ALL the ingredients before trying out new products so you can reduce the possibility of a reaction.

I am a big fan of fermented skincare and personally, everyone should try to incorporate at least one item into their routines. It will def make a difference in your skin, especially if you want to be a glazed donut lol (glazed donut: dewy, plump, hydrated skin)

Let me know your thoughts on fermented beauty....is it a yay or nay ?

Any questions, leave me a comment or email and I'll be glad to help or offer recommendations.
